Updated to 2.18 and now no version works

I upgraded to 2.18 from 2.17 on my HP Pavilion dv6 computer running Windows 7 Home Premium.

Version 2.18 did not work, even though I reloaded it from the web site and re-installed it 3 times.

I tried to install 2.17 from the download file still on my computer.

Version 2.17 did not work. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling twice.

I went to the web page and downloaded version 2.9.

Guess what happened, Nothing!

I uninstalled each Calibre installation prior to reinstalling each time.

Is anyone else having this problem?

Does anyone know what else I can try?

I have been fiddling around with my computer for about a half hour since I installed version 2.9. Suddenly Calibre started running! I am scared to upgrade to any later version now.

I have never had Calibre not work. I run it and it tells me there is a new version so I upgrade. Then it still works.

I've been having a similar problem.Since 2.16 my comp says i have installed the new versions but no desktop shortcut is made(it always makes a new one) and when i open calibre it's still 2.16.
Is anybody here willing to give an answer that's not total bullshit?
I'm not a moron,i understand computers and the internet.I didn't change anything,calibre changed.
Can I get some help or should i just find a program that works?

Your attitude makes me personally disinclined to pay any more attention to you than the time it takes to type this mesage.

Are you even aware that this is a community of users, who volunteer their time to help others?
Is there any particular reason why you opened from the start with such an aggressive attitude?
