Ctrl-7 for <p> tags

If I high light some text and then try to apply tags using the [H1] icon in the code window, the <p>, it seems like the results are 'unexpected' and the tags are not where IMHO they should be

In my simple test starting with a blank doc (Before.jpg), the <body> level picks up the <p> tags using the [H1] icon (After.jpg), and not the selected text (expected.jpg)

I think it's v1.25 but when I open the editor directly, I can't find a [Help]-[About] with a version. The Help icon links to the online manual

The operation is not insert tags, it is change tags. What it does is find the first surrounding block level tag and change it to the specified tag. In your case the first surrounding block level tag is body, which cannot be changed, so instead a tag is inserted inside body.

I understand

Would it be possible to determine if there is text selected (#chars > 0) and if so then wrap the selected text in tags?

Sigil also has something that works only to flip tags

<h2>Title</h2> placing the insert point cursor on the LINE, changes the tag to P

I use the (Sigil) clips editor :<p>\1</p>
"Foo said the bird" selecting all the text and using the button, wraps the text in a P pair

We just need to wait till a Clips editor arrives in Calibre
