Future Military Sci-Fi
I liked the Honor Harringtion novels from David Weber and I sometimes pickup novels from the Warhammer 40K series, what books do you recommend that are similar? I have decided that I like these books better then the Wheel of Time books.

David Drake's RCN novels. Highly reccomended.
Start at WITH THE LIGHTNINGS, LIEUTENANT LEARY COMMANDING, etc. Check the FIFTH IMPERIUM website for the CD image of WHEN THE TIDE RISES. Also check the Baen Free Library for the Hammer's Slammers series. Jerry Pournelle's Co-Dominium series. Also, check out Weber's EMPIRE FROM THE ASHES. If you haven't, absolutely read Heinlein's STARSHIP TROOPERS and Gordon Dickson's TACTICS OF MISTAKE and the rest of his DORSAI cycle. |

Turing Evolved by David Kitson is good. I read it a little over a year ago and it's still free on amazon.com.

Doesn't look like anyone has mentioned The Forever War by Joe Haldeman yet, so I will.

For one of the best current series that will echo Honor Harrington, try the Kris Longknife series by Mike Shepherd (pseudonym of Mike Moscoe). There are nine books in the series currently available, withe the tenth due in about ten days.
Also, Baen Books has the eARC of the forthcoming Honor Harrington (actually, Mike Henke) novel right now on their website...SHADOW OF FREEDOM. |
