save to delete/move EbookDemo.apk?

I have noticed the demo app by the name EbookDemo.apk from the /system/app is quite huge, and I am wondering if it is safe to remove it (or move it to SD card) to make some room for other apps.

use Titanium Backup. It could also make a backup on sd before you delete them. http://matrixrewriter.com/android/fi...kup_latest.apk

Thank you very much, Interfredzo. Titanium backup works perfectly. You guys can download it freely from android market. You also can go here: http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/Barebones to a list of apps that can be removed.

Does removing unwanted apps only free up space, or is there also some advantage for example battery usage???

Download the app, install, click ok for all notices. Click on backup/restore to list apps installed on your T1, select apps you want to remove and click un-install.

There are apps in /data and others in /system

Deleting apps from /system can be done manually as well, but needs a remount as writable of course. This will free up space on /system that can be used to move apps from /data to /system which in turn frees up space on /data which in turn lets you install more apps to /data

But take care! The filesystem easlily gets corrupted and there is no regular checks on a stock T1, read here for more: https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=166723

I did take the step also. I deleted about 10-15 apks' from system with EStrongs FIle Explorer, you have the option to mount the system as rw.
I deleted de demo.apk, all cell function, contacts etc etc.
I used this article as a guideline:
http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/Barebones
Along the line I probably deleted 1 apk to many, because when opening the keyboard an error popped-up, but luckely there was also AnSofkeyboard installed and after selecting that when, no more errors appeared.
I only use the reader for reading, so no notes taking, no browseing. So I don't know if I killed some functions in the background.
When is started deleting the apk's, my battery perecentage was 70%, and now still is after 4,5 days, where I normally would lose 5% every 2-3 days.
If I look at the battery usage, I see 100% for device standby, while I read 1-2 hours a day.....
Before deleting the apk's, I saw 95% of cell-standby, so probably the cell function did try to do something.
I'm wondering how long my battery will last now after a full reload......

The safest and easiest way to make space for new apps is to outsource apps with Link2SD to a MicroSD card. You just need enough space for the temporary installation of new apps, so just move some non-essential programs to the SD card with “Create link” and tick “Move automatically” (or whatever it’s called in English) new apps.
