I have been searching on the kobobooks.com store for titles by author David Eddings... while they show up in the search suggestions drop down when typing in the box, nothing I search for comes up in the actual search results.
The Elenium Trilogy: The Diamond Throne The Ruby Knight The Sapphire Rose it's sequel trilogy, The Tamuli Domes of Fire The Shining ones The Hidden City The Malloreon and Belgariad series's... also, a major annoyance is that I cannot use any of the discount codes on any of the star trek books (greedy publisher). |

It may show up in search because it is available from Kobo in another country, but not Canada.

Kobo is Canadian yes; but their book store covers many markets. Publishers market their material on a regional basis, so just because Kobo have the rights to sell book A in one market, does not mean they can sell that book in a different market.

I just checked and they're available here in the UK, so that might be what is causing this?

That's right, Peter. Publishers buy and sell rights to sell books in different markets. To maintain Kobo's enormous catalogue we're obliged to respect the territorial rights publishers claim for every title they offer. And when we discover a gap, such as the lack of Louise Penny for sale in Canada (thanks, blue shoes!), you can be sure we'll chase it.
But I agree that it's annoying for our predictive search to suggest titles that we can't sell you. Batkinson001's David Eddings search is a great example. We need to fix that. And we need to chase the rightsholders for Canada and get them to make these for sale. |
