As long as the screen is at least Carta 1200 I'm going to buy it. I have been using the Hisense A9 as my phone ever since it was released. It's been wonderful to use once it got rooted and LineageOS was ported to it.
What really excites me about the Hibreak Pro is that it's white. Finally I can get rid of that black frame around my phone and let my eyes relax even more when reading on it. And the higher specs combined with Bigme's analogue to Onyx's BSR. |

Where did you get the information that it will be a flicker free light? Did they specify DC dimming? |

Here's a reddit post, where they specify both DC dimming and Carta 1200 for the screen: https://old.reddit.com/r/Bigme/comme...pro_unveiling/
I'm going to buy the phone. The only definite con so far is the lack of a 3.5 mm jack, so I'd have to use a converter. And it'll also be unclear how good the speakers are until the phone is launched. And who knows about the screen. I hope it'll be micro-etched glass that's scratch resistant. |

Cabled phones easily exceed BT buds for quality and don't need charged or paired. Yes, I know there are big BT headphones, but none are as comfy as my 1990s headphones. Even my 1945 USA bomber headset is better than many BT. It has an adaptor from original plug to 3.5mm.
Also not all BT headsets / bud or host gadgets support high quality or lossless codecs (doesn't matter for audio books, only music). My TCL Nxtpaper 40 does have 3.5mm jack and playtime exceeding anything I had previously, inc Android eink with 3.5mm jack. I used to have giant headphones and a Philips radio while cutting my dad's so called lawn with the noisy Flymo in early 1970s. I've tried loads of BT headphones and buds. They also don't go loud enough for impaired hearing. |

![]() Hearing impairement is of course another story. On the other hand, my hearing aids (HA) do go loud enough and it's their BT connectivity that is most interesting. It's skips the data>electronics>speakers>sound>microphone>electro nics>data steps and just sends data directly to my HA and lets them blast it quite loudly.* It's the 3.5mm jack that needs an extra gadget to connect to my HA. And that one does need pairing with my HA. _____________ *Does make you wonder about those sound lenses that are fitted directly onto you eardrum, so that the second stream data>electronics>receiver>sound>eardrum replaces 2 steps with one sound lens directly on the eardrum. Too bad that they are only for minor impairments. Last edited by Markismus; 01-14-2025 at 03:08 PM. |

Apparently, tomorrow they are available? They're basically spamming my inbox. I really hope that they will release a colored eInk version of the HiBreak Pro, too.
Does anyone know whether they released the HiBreak B&W and HiBreak Colored at the same time last year? Or is their release scheme B&W first and colored later? This reddit post seems to have gleaned that we should stay posted for the colored version. Can't be bothered to read through the YouTube comments, though. I have ordered one, combining their 15% discount from spinning the wheel with that $25 discount that one could get by buying a code.
They start shipping late February, so hopefully it'll arrive in early March. I wouldn't want a colour version. But I guess that's in the works for them. |

So it's extra. I can switch the color eInk to classic. Can't switch the B&W to color, though. |

I have tried a Clara Colour and didn't like it one bit for black and white content. I haven't had a problem with needing colour on my A9 these years that I've used it as my phone. |

Kaleido "300 dpi mono" is inferior to actual mono panel 300 dpi (without Kaleido's coloured dots) in sharpness, contrast, brightness (at same ambient light) and has coloured artefacts with certain 300 dpi content. It's physics.
The artefact issue is why there is an option on some devices to only render mono at 150 dpi. That makes it virtually artefact free, though still a slight "screen door" effect because the coloured dots deliberately don't fill the pixels, to improve brightness and contrast at expense of saturation. So grayscale on Kaleido is only approximately 300 dpi at best and never as good as a regular mono 300 dpi panel. I've seen a current Onyx model "face to face". My companion also remarked that it was a lot poorer than the Kobo Sage. In ambient light the Kindle DXG (Pearl screen) is brighter and better contrast. It's 150 dpi. |
