For those who don't speak Vietnamese, he's praising the Libra 2 to high heaven, saying the black is blacker than the Oasis 3's black, which is more grayish

Geez, I'm not having any luck purchasing the new Libra 2.

None of our major retailers have stock and no-one can even advise when they expect to receive stock. The Kobo site itself has been out of stock since I first checked a couple of weeks ago.

I guess it has been more popular than anticipated.

JB HiFi had an original release date 11 November
But a week before that, they changed the status to "Released", "Out of Stock", "Available 14 December". (some crazy marketing)

Went to Myer, they are "out of stock" but should be getting some in.

And the Kobo store shows "sold out". Makes me think that it is released, otherwise it would have a release date, not "sold out".

There seems to be some crazy marketing/advertising around this ereader

When I go to 'Find' there, it says "Delivered with tracking by Thursday 18th November", and it's listed as in stock at certain stores.

Which is far better than trying to order something from the USA in these times (let alone worrying about what happens if you then need to return it for some reason).

For me they have:

    Delivered with tracking by Monday 22nd November.
    $5.99
    Delivered with tracking by Wednesday 1st December.
    $5.99

With no explanation of what the difference is. I think it is either the type of post or one might be courier. But, that doesn't explain the cost being the same. The above is the black. For white it is 22/23rd of December.

As to stores, they are listing places in Sydney. I'm on the Central Coast and they don't list it at any of the stores here. It would be interesting to know if they have sold out, or never had them. I'd stopped looking so I hadn't notice.

Probably just haven't arrived yet. It's only listing three or so stores in Perth with in-stock status. Is shipping still disrupted over there?

Meera, booktopia.com.au who "partners" with kobo for ereaders and ebooks, has an updated release date of 3 December (from 19 November, which itself was an update from earlier November)

Jbhifi has a January delivery date

I reckon that it's a huge delay in getting sufficient numbers of devices, and not a huge customer base. So, for example only say 200 devices may get allocated per state or whatever.

And yeah, there's still a big parcel backlog across Sydney from what I'm gathering

What about the West?
