You don't know that. I only caught the tail end earlier but reading the earlier posts on this thread (looking for 5.12.5 changes and feedback instead of PW3 EOL scaremongering), it looks like there's evidence that Amazon is working on 5.12.5 for the PW3 as @jhowell pointed out.

Mind, not all devices get the same point (.) updates. For example, both PW2 and PW3 skipped 5.11.1 and went directly to 5.11.2 while the KT4 and PW4 received 5.11.1.

The same version number doesn't always get released at the same time for all devices either. I seem to recall both PW2 and PW4 receiving 5.10.2 a month earlier than the PW3.

I agree that we don't know what to expect from Amazon on the PW3. But I don't think picking on JSWolf about his opinions helps anything. He believes it's at EOL and maybe it is. I don't know and he doesn't either. I doubt it is. He thinks it is. That's why we have discussions.

This is starting to get a bit unfriendly and I don't think anything good can come from that.

I've been disagreeing with JSWolf for years, long before I joined this forum we had our disagreements in a chat room we were both in. He was always friendly and he still is. We just disagree. Personally I enjoy people who disagree with me. It's what makes discussions fun.

The regular product has 48,150 ratings.

The PW3 was available for over 3 years. I doubt the PW4 overtook it this soon.

I have tried most Kindles. PW3 is one of my not so favorite. I might be in the minority. It was the screen. It felt and looked like a mat finish photo compared to glossy. I like the PW4 and Oasis much better, just my opinion.

It would be less aggravating if he didn't then castigate other people for having the temerity to define what "end of life" means *while doing exactly the same thing himself*. Apparently only JSWolf is permitted to have opinions.

(Amazon have reportedly redeployed a significant percentage of staff working on the Kindle to other lab126 projects, notably a likely somewhat embryonic, perhaps pie-in-the-sky covid-19 testing initiative. This is not exactly proprietary information as it was all over the trade press a few weeks ago... and yes, your guess is as good as mine what good a bunch of big-embedded software developers can do for covid-19 testing. I guess for any portable solution there'll be some embedded software development required, and some of it might well be on the kinda-mobile-phone-sized platforms the Kindle team have experience with.)

And which model (version)?

My Voyage got manually updated with Kindle Firmware 5.12.5 as soon as I got the info about the update (RSS-feed the digitalreader I think), I do not wait more than a few days, if there are issues I am usually sol, but may have an older firmware in a backup - have not needed to backlevel yet though, if that is even possible.
