Do you spend more time with your tablet or your laptop?
If you own both devices, which device do you spend more time with?
When do you use one and not the other? |

More time with a laptop. I use a tablet for videos and games.

Probably laptop. At home I'll use the tablet if I just want to check something quickly since it's instant on, but if I'm planning to do a bunch of browsing I will typically use the laptop for the larger screen size. For work I just drag the tablet (10", Windows) along with me and use it as needed for everything. If you put a gun to my head and forced me to give up one or the other, the laptop would be gone as the tablet has enough advantages to beat out the laptop.

I didn't vote in the poll because I don't own a laptop. I have a desktop and an older hand-me-down tablet. I hardly ever use the tablet. I don't know whether it's because the tablet is old, or if wifi is slower than DSL, but everything on the internet seems to take twice as long on the tablet. Also, even though the tablet has a keyboard, I much prefer the full keyboard on the desktop, and a mouse instead of the tablet's trackpad. And in general, it seems like websites have fewer options and are harder to navigate on the tablet. I use my e-ink reader for reading books.

I only use my tablet(s) for reading PDFs and playing some simple games. They're very useful to have, but don't account for much use.

I use my laptop for most things. I use the tablet mostly for older videos. I'm not sure I have a real reason for that. It's just my habit.

I don't currently own or use a laptop (though my wife has 3). Also, I don't own a "tablet" in the sense that I don't own one that uses a limited and restricted OS (read: iOS or Android). My personal computers are a big powerful desktop and a tablet, both run Windows 10 which makes the tablet function as a laptop when I turn on the keyboard and mouse.
In terms of time spent, not counting when I'm at work, I usually spend slightly more time using my tablet as a tablet than the time spent using my desktop or the tablet as a "notebook". When I'm at work, I use my work desktop (along with a second desktop that functions as a print server) 99% of the time while my personal tablet, in "notebook" mode, idles nearby to be used for very brief chores. |

I intentionally didn't include desktop in my survey because I am curious with people's preferences with their portable devices.

I use a netbook with a screen roughly the same size as my tablet. But I do practically all my web browsing on it. I just prefer the full desktop browsing experience.
Almost the only thing I do with my tablet is read comics. I do some light browsing and checking of Facebook on it. If I could justify ponying up the dough to buy a Surface with a type cover, that would probably be best for me. But my Craigslist Dell netbook and Lenovo Tab 2 together cost less than a Surface 3. |

For reading - books, articles, etc.--
A laptop or desktop about 70% of the time. A tablet/eReader 25% of the time. A phone 5% of the time. I actually mainly use the Smart Phone for checking the weather or the Market. I have a vintage flip cell phone which I use most the time for calling and occasionally for texting. The Smart Phone is a Freedom-pop which is free. Since I retired, I seldom email. (It is wonderful to have broken that tether!) |

Neither
My Library is on my Desktop. (has 3 Monitors) Calibre Companion is on the Tablet which I mostly use as a remote Catalog except for PDF and Color documents. My main reader is e-ink The Laptop is for researching titles and posting on MR (when away from my home desk) |
