Smartphones are much better built, as far as the screen goes, than eInk readers. An eInk reader has a very fragile layer in the screen that can very easily get cracked if the reader is bumbed, dropped, or even set down too hard. Smartphones are tough enough for a pocket, at least a shirt pocket, but eInk readers can get a cracked screen if too much pressure is applied to them, so be careful if you carry one in your pocket.

Actually, with Amazon's branding over the last few years, they've dropped the "Kindle" name for their tablets--they are just "Amazon Fires" now. Kindles refer to their e-ink devices. So unless they change their marketing strategy again, any new Kindle will be an e-ink device.

That being said, it is apparent (by looking at the calendar) that Amazon did not release any new Kindles in September of 2015.

Gah! To be quite honest, the release of a new, E-ink dedicated ereader from Amazon does not look particularly promising anymore, regardless of the questionably worded phrases from CS reps and whatever... Perhaps now someone needs to ask a CS rep for a new dedicated ereader/E-ink device release? Haha...
Im getting sick and tired of opening up these forums and being constantly disappointed! Both by the lack of any new Kindle ereader info AND no signs whatsoever of .kfx compatibility for Android devices
