A new logo for Sigil ?

Hi Stéphane:

Your post has two parts:

1) Regarding the proposed new logo (which does not look bad in my opinion): if the oldest is not badly broken, is it necessary to fix it?

2) Regarding the translation (something about it there: https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=152849). I stopped using Transifex because there were, time to time, security alerts about the site certificate: boring!

I have not been back there for a long time, but I made some additions through Qt Linguist which allows to deal with .qm format. In short, if my own French translation can help, let me know, I will send it to you (PM). However, it is incomplete for "Add Role" and some languages.

It totally disappeared on some of the older Ubuntu's
I changed the icon background from Transparent, But it would be if the Logo was made to appear, like it was on light colored Page or Scroll (to avoid the 'box' look. If the scroll washed out on a light background... so what

So, if Windows: change it

1. Find an icon you prefer, or make one
2. Right click desktop shortcut,
3. Select Properties
4. Select Shortcut tab,
5. Click Change icon
6. Browse to preferred icon and select it

Next time you install Sigil be sure to uncheck the create desktop icon option.

You could doodle around with the existing dark one to make a light one and post here. Maybe the dev's could include it in the install package - or if they're into spoon feeding they could provide an install option: dark, light or both shortcuts

I'd like to see a more attractive desktop icon, so I'd consider a new logo mostly good for what kind of icon it would imply. I'm not sure what a new icon would look like if it were based on this logo, so I can't give you an answer!

That said, I'm totally in favor of new and different logos all the time. Let's shake it up! The benefit is that it will look nice and give the app a modern feeling, as opposed to the current icon, which is kind of bland.

Its not bland, its a kind of old-fashioned, reminds me to ex-libris stamps and bridges books and computers.

It's a current trend. One of the webdesigners at work is also doing this on many logo's, along with using tiny, light gray text and huge white space on websites.
