Two new ereaders announced in the next month or so?

Word in another thread is that Kobo will announce two new ereaders in the next month or so.

So, what hints have we already got on the specs and sizes etc?

Do you mean in addition to the Kobo Glo HD announced today?

That is what we were expecting, but now I'm not so sure.

There is the suggestion in the firmware about a new 600x800 resolution device. I'm leaning towards a low cost Mini sized device with a front light.

yes, but now I'm not sure we'll see it at all. They were supposed to launch together.

One of the hints in the firmware is that it is the same hardware as the Glo HD but 600x800. I'm leaning towards a replacement for the Touch. I think it will be identical to the Glo HD except for the screen resolution and possibly no light.

But, I think a Mini sized device would be a good idea. I'm tending to think it should be a full-featured device rather than a budget device. And as people who have a Mini love how much they can take it with them, how about a Mini H2O? The Aura H2O for the bath and poolside and the Mini H2O for getting caught in the rain waiting for the bus.

The only clue I've found from firmware 3.13.1 is that (Device::isPika() == true) ==> (Device::hasSDSlot() == false)

(I could have worked that out for Alyssum too if I had thought to check.)

That seems to say that the pika and alyssum have the same or similar PCB but different resolutions.

Hmnn. Well, that's interesting.

I've been thinking for a while that Kobo needs to refresh the Touch. The current Kindle Basic is superior in a few ways, mainly on-board storage & processor speed.
