If Amazon made an ipod touch sized fire, would you buy it?

Nope. In that size I'm using a phone. I went to the phone so I could stop carying two devices. The 6 inch kindle fire keeps calling to me though.

Thing is, phones are trending towards 6 inchers now. I am envisioning this as being more of a music player than for apps or videos, for which you would want a Fire HDX

No. But that's because I already have the iPod Touch and it serves its purpose. I feel like the only reason the HD 6 exists is because Amazon doesn't want people to go from an eInk Kindle to a phablet. It will destroy their business model sooner or later. The Voyage exists just so that the majority of people won't buy them and they can finally phase them out in the next two years.

Ah, yeah, I should have it moved. I don't think amazon would mind if there was a lot of phablet users, as long as they use the kindle app and continue to buy just as many ebooks, Amazon woud be making more money.

That's kind of what the fire phone is, isn't it?

I'd probably buy one, if it was in my price range (cheap) and was similar to the Galaxy Player. But only if it had a clip that I could attach to my shirt.

Fire Player, sounds awesome! I don't need all that stuff they have on their phones, and I don't buy contract phones, or have 3G or 4G on my phones.

I just love my Fire HD 6, but I'm not going to wear it. So I wouldn't mind a Fire Player that I could wear.

So would I. If they can't get rid of their Fire Phones, they can always drop the price and re-brand them as the Fire Mini.

Right now, the HD6 is close; but still too large for a shirt pocket.

Still have my SGP6 which was the perfect carry around size. Only wish they had upgraded it to at least 4.04

SGP is what actually gave me this idea, except I think that Amazon would be in a better position to sell these, as they have the music, video, ebook, and apps/games services nessary to keep people tied in

For me to be interested, it would have to be priced like the KF HD6, and have an option for at least 32gb, preferably 64gb, or even better, an SD card slot. I have a lot of music I'd want to load up.

As someone who has an embarrassing number of MP3 and media players (multiple Zunes among them, which should tell you how embarrassing), I just don't see the need for media players any more.

Why? Because our old decommissioned phones serve that purpose. Unless you damage your phones early in their life cycles, or use your phones until they die. But even in those cases, you've got options:
1. Friends and relatives with old de-commissioned phones wasting away, who would be happy to give them to you.
2. Cheap new phones (I bought a new Nokia 520 for $40 and a new ZTE Awe for $28, both with 4.0" screens, micro SD card slots, and removable batteries).
3. Cheap used two-year-old phones on eBay and Craigslist.

New media players are just not price competitive with the above options. Yeah, they might include a few options that we don't get on phones, like maybe an FM radio. But most are just phones without cell radios. Do we really think anyone in charge of an electronic company's product portfolio would ever foresee media players selling well?

Best bet for a media player is a cheap no-contract phone; provided it has decent specs -- And 4.3+, 1.2 GHz quad-core CPU, 1GB RAM, mSD, and 8GB storage. Too often, these phones skimp on these specs and give you And 4.0, 1.0 GHz dual-core CPU, 512MB RAM, no mSD, and 4GB storage.
