I installed a new version of Netbeans (6.8) and then tried to do a couple of builds and it all went to poopy land. Problems with various versions (Maven-Clean Plugin) and junit and ....

It's somehow downloading corrupt Jar and Zip files......

That's anoying for sure. Looks like the netbeans plugin is as messed as the eclipse one. I always use command line.

It generally works real well and I just tried things here at work (I was at home before) and all is fine.

the problem is almost always the settings.xml and remote repositories and the order they are scanned etc....what a pain...

My co-workers use Eclipse and do their builds from the command line like you.

my internet connection abruptly died THREE DAYS ago. they sent me a technician only today to check if the problem was with my installation (i could have told them it wasn't. oh wait, i DID tell them it wasn't). confirmation : it's not me, it's them. but worse still, it's not on the part of the installation managed by the ISP, it's on the telecom infrastructure. so the ISP must transfer the dossier to the telecom, who has, in theory, "maximum 10 days" to fix it. and of course since today is friday, they won't even hear about it until monday.

the last time the telecom was involved in a problem with my internet, each side kept throwing the ball back to the other one and it took them MONTHS to get it straightened out.

if i were only using internet to watch the occasional youtube video that would be one thing, but ALL OF MY WORK depends on my connection. the neighbor's wifi might be okay as a short-term solution but after three days of it i am already REALLY annoyed. if this is not fixed by 10am on monday morning i am going to start getting urges to scream at people. actually i kind of already have that urge.

Any mention of 'days' in our part of the world usually refers to 'working days', i.e. Monday to Friday (especially when you are dealing with banking institutions) and inevitably problems occur on Fridays. So 10 days is often a "minimum" of 2 weeks here.

They *will* blame the problem on anyone else but themselves, you just know this is going to happen.

I hope they get it sorted soon for you Zelda. You should ask them to pro-rate your next bill due to interruption of service.

Here there are always 3 or 4 such providers we can choose from so they are very adamant about giving their best.

oh yes, i know it. that's exactly what they did the last time. during months.

i'm going to make an official request to be credited all the days my connexion was interrupted, and also reimbursed for the wifi key i had to buy in the meantime (29€). my internet connection is my work tool, i can't afford to be without it, i pay them for a service and if they can't provide it i shouldn't have to pay.

i could switch but really objectively this one is the best, when everything is going well. it's competitively priced (30€/ month), excellent bandwidth and it keeps improving (for the same price), free unlimited telephone including international calls... the problem is that when something goes wrong it can become a nightmare. but that's not necessarily specifically limited to them...

What is their SLA. Do you pay for business level service?
