Actually, "Dead Wrong" by Mariah Stewart is the book I was thinking of. Good book! Since the basic premise is spelled out in the first chapter, I'm not spilling anything by quoting it from the top listed reviewer:
Quote:
Archer Lowell, Curtis Alan Channing, and Vince Giordano share a jail holding cell waiting for the law to process them when all hell breaks loose as someone escapes custody. To pass time while the complex is totally shut down, the trio discusses why they are here when the conversation turns to who would they like to kill. They agree that to be successful they would have to exchange victims like the Hitchcock and DeVito movies did.
There are 4 books in this "Dead" series. The first three books are about each of the three guys in that holding cell (mentioned in the quote), each carrying out a murder for the other guy. Good series!

edit: I read it in 2005. It's in my stuff-i-read-file.

I don't know... that's just like, living up to something that doesn't quite add up to be a necessary part of life.
Goals should be encouraged, without guilt trips if unattainable or replaced with another goal.

I hate it when someone asks you every day if you have done something, especially when your goal is to do it once a week/month etc. I want to slap them silly.

I don't always broadcast my goals, because some goals (weight loss for instance) I don't want to be asked about. They're PERSONAL goals, to me.

I don't generally have specific goals. If I cut back on fat, go to the gym, drink less wine or start a new project it is because I think it might be beneficial.

My mother will ferret out any changes in my lifestyle based on my availability or contents of my fridge and immediately start making enquiries or pointed remarks and encourage my sister/aunts or cousins to do the same. Makes no difference in the grand scheme that they are all at least 10 kilos heavier and rarely see sunlight except through a window.

Oh well, I guess it entertains them.

A lot of my family members are the same... They always have an opinion (judgement) about someone else's life or mine. And when it comes to weight loss--OMG! If anyone's losing weight (even a few pounds)--a few of them eye the individual from the ground up and make comments. Most of my older sisters are overweight and insecure about it. And they were once beautiful. I guess it's jealousy, pride and insecurity all rolled into one. Also, the need to control. I won't let their comments dissuade me from my diet or goals anymore. *shaking head* In fact, I almost feel like saying, "Did I ask for your opinion?" when they give unsolicited advice. Perhaps I will one of these days.

I agree with this, usually, people would encourage me that if I had certain goals, I need to tell people about it so they would also remind me of those goals in case I forget. I'd rather prove to myself that I can do it without other people's instructions.

I would also like to let this out: the frustration of talking to someone else who won't absolutely listen to reason
This man would talk relentlessly; being on offense and defense mode at the same time while you listen to him yap about things that thwart him.
It's also hilarious because I can't even finish a sentence with him, he always has something to add and to refute.

I wanted to tell him I am not his psychologist, but I can tell he was also venting out his frustration. I refuse to be the one he wanted to displace his anger onto. So I excused myself. I do my best to avoid these kind of people.

I just spotted that two of my pairs of jeans are in need of replacement. Which means I have to go clothes shopping .

Today I'm starting at 11am instead of 10am so I can squeeze in a quick trip to the clothing store. Luckily there is a sale on right now, if the price is right I'll buy an extra pair.

Right you are well, women

First under their skirts
they wanted underwear.
Why so - I do not know, I swear.

But the demands, they just had no ends.
Now, just like us they are wearing pants.

Here go - have your rant

Not the sale bit, that's what we call in Dutch "een geluk bij een ongeluk" (good luck during a misfortunate event).

I hate shopping for clothes. Luckily I can order tops in the UK with Evans, they are very good with sizes. Unfortunately if I need jeans or other pants I need to try them on because I have weird legs apparently.

I was lucky because by some miracle they had one pair of boot cut jeans in both the right size and length and another pair of jeans I bought was half price so I bought two. So now I don't have to go clothes shopping for a while.

Why oh why do developers feel the need to totally change the UI and look-and-feel of their applications.

For some time I have used Tapatalk on my tablet. This week's I update is the PITS.

Sent from my Nexus 7 using Forum Fiend v1.2.14.

There's something in my bathtub! Evil! Sinister! And hiding!

Whilst I was showering tonight, I chanced to glance towards the faucets (not wearing my specs of course) - and to my horror saw something clinging to the side of the tub - it was large, dark, with many legs.

I carefully exited the tub at the other end, dried off a bit, and put on my specs. Summoning up my courage I boldly pulled the shower curtain to one end and stood ready, slipper in hand, to swiftly exterminate any arachnid menace .... But it was GONE! I gingerly poked around a bit ... OK, not really poked, but looked carefully .... and I can't find it!

Anyone want to come over & help a poor chook locate a fiendish monster & remove it from my shower??? Please?

If I stop posting here, send the SWAT team!
