Problem changing pages

Hi folks, long time since I last posted...

In the meantime, I got myself a nice Kobo Aura HD (actually a gift from my parents for XMas), which I like very much, thank you

But I have noticed something in the last few weeks/months; quite often, when I press the right margin of the screen to go to the next page, any of the following would happen :
  • it would simply do nothing
  • it would add a new bookmark (as if I pressed the top-right corner) and that's all
  • it would add a new bookmark and then go to the next page

This is weird, and I'm beginning to wonder if I'm the only one experiencing this...

That's a glitch that's effecting some devices since 3.2. The easy work around is put the 2 finger touch hack on (it just involves dropping a file on the device, pretty simple to do) your HD and it will be back to proper turns. You'll find it in the Kobo developer sub-forum above (see here: https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=232431). Just make sure you uninstall it before you upgrade again as some people had a problem with the 3.2 upgrade if the hack was still installed.

Thanks for the tip; is there a thread where you read about people having this problem on 3.2 ?
Also, I don't understand how the (very cool) hack by Georgio will correct this ?

This hack replace the underlying Linux kernel with one which implements the multi touch handling on devices besides the Aura.

This solution was suggested to the Kobo Dev team on the beta discussion list shortly after 3.2 was released.

Not sure it's been one specific thread about it and it doesn't seem to effect all devices so it's just scattered reports and personal experience. Peter has replied with the why it works. All I can say is that since installing it I've had zero issues and it was grating on me enough that I was getting ready to downgrade my firmware.

I will admit that when we were first offered 3.2 I *assumed* that the issues I was seeing were specific to me. I've always been a lot more susceptible to the missing click / double page turn than many other of the beta testers, and had reported it so many times in beta I was getting tired of even mentioning it.

When I realized that others were seeing the same as me (annotations suddenly appearing, weird page turns, etc) I was quite QUITE relieved and mused about the possibility of the hacked kernel resolving the issues. (This musing was on March 12th). Later that day I installed the hack and shared my experiences with the beta group (including the dev's).

Note to myself: Never ever upgrade a working firmware on my Kobo.

T bring things together:
See this thread: https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...ghlight=random

Keeping an eye on it because I'm experiencing the same probems.... I think it's a major error in this firmware!

Well, thanks to all for the information and the explanations. I'm going to install the hack this week-end, and hope for the best (I've still to open my Aura to get a backup of the SD card)
