Finally I tested the feature on my fresh M92 (which I ordered from Booxtor at around 1546 hours, was on its way on 1618 and arrived the next day around noon --- too bad that I wasn't at home that time, but really ... freakishly quick response to an order!).
Now, I see two issues with the device, one most probably with the experimental multitasking (I did the update ASAP), the other one perhaps, as it surfaced in this thread already. 1. After opening the music player and switching to another task, I cannot switch back to the music player. The task manager claims the player is selected, but it is not really shown. The music plays along and I cannot stop it as the player repeats the single track I had there for testing. I had to reboot to get rid of it. Now I imagine the music player was already designed as background task and conflicts with the new approach. 2. More seriously, I cannot figure out how to get the keyboard appear in a search field for an offline HTML book (math reference). It has some Javascript-powered search form which does appear, but does not trigger the keyboard. Is this related to the non-working Google search? Is see that the HTML form in my case is indeed written by Javascript, could that be a cause? PS: The M92 really finally gets it right to enable drawing with a stylus! It's as accurate as I wished all the time from the iRex DR1000 (which is utter _crap_ in anything that's not the still unmatched big screen). This is the first eReader that might really help me getting work done, multitasking being a must, export of scribbles on PDF to new pdf just the way it should be. I just wonder about the wasted design with sleek tapering to the edges when it'll stay in the cover at all times, where there is a place for the pen, too (and where the screen won't break too easily). Oh, perhaps a nitpick about that cover: It heavily applies pressure on the joystick as highest protuding point (even the cover lid is thicker there) ... it should have a small cutout (still covered with the upper layer) to accomodate the joystick and to distribute pressure more evenly over the device. |

Screen flushes 3 times
When I install "multitasking" in my device, every time I go to the "explorer" from a reading app or whatsoever, the screen "refreshes" 3 times ...
its very annoying it would be super-nice if you fix this |

Simply paste this little plastic "crash absorbers" (find it in any hardware store) |

That's a nice idea, tomaschavez00! And Mono, you seem to have another version of the cover. I only have to wonder if you got a newer or an older version, given that I got my M92 this year. Some kind of bumper on the device seems like a good fix, though.
But still, it is always frightening to experience how poorly products are designed. Such simple things. To come back to the firmware topic: Currently my test is in hiatus, because the device is frozen. When I press the power/sleep button, I only get some blue flashes from the LED. I guess that belongs into a separate thread. (Update: Ah, right that seems to be the procedure for flat battery (but still enough for the LED) ... but it happend rather suddenly, so I suppose it is combined with a firmware bug that drained the battery; or it's faulty. Shouldn't be worn out after less than a year!) Before that, it also managed to forget a scribble that was rather important. I suppose the app crashed and it had not stored in between. There should be periodic saving in the background to take care of that ... software is never bug-free and if a document is open for a whole day or more, it's really well worth the effort to save it a few times. Anyhow, I'm still hoping that there will be a stable firmware with multitasking feature. The device is great, but it is, as the DR1000, still let down by the state of the software. I strongly assume that the tendency to disable drawing and forcing me to move the stylus away and approach again is a software thing, too ... I have to, because if it's fixed in the sensor, then it sucks even more. Damn, here I am again hoping for software improvements. Didn't I learn from the iRex? On the bright side, perhaps my M92 is actually broken in hardware to gernerate that unawakable state. Last edited by sobukus; 10-04-2013 at 03:50 AM. |

Mine M92 is almost 2 years old, one of the first ones. They probably changed the cover to worse one meanwhile. :-(
But those nice bumpers will do the job. :-) We are aproaching (in great circle) the socialistic state of art of customers support. It used to be DIY, before one could use the product.... |

Actually we changed to better cover meanwhile . Currently offered model is very stable and offers much better protection than the old one. |

Yes. For you, and may be someone else, but not in this thread. There is no link to the multitasking.
You can repeat your question in the dedicated thread, and only in the dedicated thread. |

It's not a good reason. You haven't to pollute all the threads. If you want contact Booxtor, try a PM or reiterate your question in the same thread.
When Booxtor have some time, he read the new threads and give some answers when he could. There is many people here and the opinion of what is important differ for each person. For example, for me after more of one year of usage, your request has no interest. So, please, respect the subject of each thread. |

I've installed multitasking and played around with it for some days. This tool is really great! Thank you Booxtor
I've found out a bug: when I choose to use an old pdf reader and open, e.i. 2, pdfs than I can't close them in anyway besides restarting device. when I choose one of such pdf and press menu button (house button) than I see settings tag, so device think that pdf reader is closed, but it isn't. |

I downloaded and installed the firmware for multitasking in my new Onyx M92, as instructed in the first post of this thread. The multitasking feature is working fine so far, but the "Odd Even Margins" option in Page Settings does not bring any change in my scanned pdfs! :-(

I hope in a later firmware the zoom-to-width will be automated after the manual-margin-adjustments. |
