Good morning, everyone! 'Hope everyone's having/had a good first day of the month! I'm taking a break from all the file conversion and rooting my Galaxy Note 10.1 today. Hopefully it'll work... If not, I'm stuck with a bricked tablet. I downloaded all the files yesterday and have all the relevant tabs (on my browser) bookmarked. Wish me luck! *a bit anxious*

Good luck trich! Good day everyone! I come fresh from ditching an Asimov book, 'But Jupiter and other stories'. Only the first story was good. The rest, as far as I read them, were garbage, I'm afraid to say. This has given me food for thought. I had ditched Asimov's Foundation book two years ago. SF probably isn't a genre for me. To what extent does this apply? Maybe I won't be able to finish The Martian(which I'm yet to touch). SF is the genre where I reject the most books. I'm beginning to despair. I love the SF genre, hypothetically, as a concept. I have never come close to duplicating the reading experience of Nightfall an other stories. That was a book that I read 20 times. It'll be weeks before I attempt a SF book. Once bitten...have a nice day.

It could be an issue of finding the kind of science fiction story you are interested in. Although I'm a fan of science fiction, my interest tends to go to stories featuring the following: time travel, alternate universes, virtual reality, and robots (especially Asimov's stories). I'm less interested in the massive-epic type of science fiction, or the type that deals with political intrigue.

Part of my interest in science fiction is colored by my interest in anime, which often features types of science fiction stories, or twists on those stories, that you often don't see on the screen in the U. S. As an example, there's a series I enjoyed called "Serial Experiments Lain" which deals with the problems when the Wired World starts to bleed into the Real World.

Often, my reaction to many U. S. science fiction movies is a bit muted because, often I've already seen many of the same concepts in various anime. As an example, when I saw "The Matrix" (quite a while after its original release) my reaction to it was a bit ho-hum because it dealt with many of the concepts covered in "Serial Experiments Lain" (which was released on video in the U. S. the year before "The Matrix").

Hello Everyone! Almost Monday...counting for days before the vacation leave.
Also trying to catch up on the books challenge and preparing for my mother's birthday. I'm still trying to figure out what to give to her... maybe a bag as usual (her favorites; always the safe choice). Haha.

I'm a big fan of anime too! I do have all the episodes of 'Lain', but I haven't yet watched them. I count myself as a fan of the genre, only now I realize I've been putting off watching Lain and Ghost In The Shell for months now.I had thought that I only want a good story, but then I reckon I don't want political intrigues and such. i pretty much prefer those things you mentioned. Thank you for trying to help me.

Good day to all. It seems to me that I've read little today. I'm reading the Count Of Monte Christo and I'm loving the book. I'm surprised how quickly the plot has progressed. I hope it remains as modern and as eventful later on. I ought to have shifted to a Wodehouse book, but didn't. Reason is that I'm not sure it will be any good. I'll have to coax myself to start it.
