Even although
Is this an accepted American phrase? Like awhile, it seems to crop up very often in American books. As in "Even although he had been there awhile."
Either "Even though" or "Although" would be the accepted way of saying it in English. |

Even though is correct; even although is incorrect in American English. Although would be correct in American English as well.

I'm not happy with that proposed phrase. Both alternatives sound correct to me.

Ugh. I'm glad to say this is the first time I've heard of "Even although" and hope it's the last.
"Even though" or "although" are both correct. |

The phrase "even if" is also better than "even although" I think.
