Just curious,
How bad would it be if I formatted the drive (Kindle 4NT) when it's plugged into windows. What would the result be? Also, is there a way to restore it to original settings, (screensavers and all?) |

Resetting to Factory Defaults should be able to clear up any issues that might arise from formatting the user-mounted (USB) drive... hypothetically. But why would you want to?

On a Non-Touch it's OK to reformat the drive, but don't do it on a Touch. The TTS files are in the user filestore on a Touch, and if you reformat the drive you'll lose them.

Well that's good to know, hypothetically, it would be because there are a bunch of files on there from when I may or may not have JB it... Which if I had done, was uninstalled.
How about restoring all the original screensavers? I have the screen saver files but.. yeah, not sure how to get it back to how it should be. ![]() |

If you want some help, please cut out the obliquity and ask a straightforward question. Nobody can help you if we don't understand what it is that you're asking!

A factory reset will certainly make your Kindle behave as if it's no longer jail-broken, but it doesn't necessarily remove all traces of the jail-break. Most jail-break packages have their own uninstall programs that you should use for that purpose.

All right, straight forward then.
Before the JB for the K4NT came out, I used this method to get custom screensavers. That was fine, when ithe JB and SS hack came out I did those. But now they aren't working... more than likely something to do with the Calibre copy cover to device or something I did wrong. Now I want to get everything thing back to original with the original screen savers and such. So, there you have it. ![]() |
