cold wether 4 celcus kindle book
had my kindle in knapsack for 2 hours at night in 4-5 celcus weather. the screen does not work dark lines throughout

Sounds more like the screen got squished while in your knapsack. Sounds like a broken screen. 4-5 degrees celsius should be ok, per the Kindle User's Guide:
Operating temperature — 32°F to 95°F (0°C to 35°C).
Storage temperature — 14°F to 113°F (-10°C to 45°C).
