Do you ever see bigger numbers in those parentheses? I know I've got one really dense ebook in my collection that might generate such results - IIRC, it was printed in really tiny print and still takes up about a thousand printed pages. (It's a big "history of science fiction" omnibus that I think was intended as the reading material for an academic course. I just know I was grateful to get it cheap and electronic, so I could have access to such a wealth of material without having to squint.)

Here's deback's image resized 400%. you can see the 'iii 1/2' if you squint in the red box. I assume iPads can blowup thumbs into an overlay, but I'd only be moderately surprised if they couldn't

I think I'm with Rev Bob on this, but I'd need to see more details to understand it properly. The page numbering looks like what is common in the frontmatter for text books (Roman numerals and then restart the count when the text starts). And the second part could an expression to show that that page doesn't completely fit on the screen. The solution for you is to remove the page-map. But, I am curious about what is actually going on. Can you run it through the ScrambleEbook plugin and post it?

This curiosity is separate to removing the page-map. That is a reasonable request, just not one the rest of us understood the need for. I've never seen one, so had no idea how they behaved. And to be honest, still don't. Now I want to know.

Yes, I can see that. And with the other examples, I'm even more intrigued. At the moment, I'm wondering if the "(5/2)" is supposed to mean "Page 5 of chapter 2". And the fact that you saw "iiii" followed by "iv" makes me want to tear the book apart and see what exactly is in it. If you had said "iiii" followed by "v", as "iiii" isn't that uncommon for "4" (look at an analog clock). But, two versions of 4?

Please, post the scrambled book or a link where I can find it myself.

Edit: You beat me. I'll have a look at it tonight as I don't have ADE here. And I'm supposed to be working.
