I did miss that. I was going to test this one, but without the span removal, it's not the version I'm running. So as far as testing goes, can't do it as this one is missing the span removal which I do now use.

Can the newest version please be fixed for Qt5?

I used it in calibre beta 2.X many times last night (in calibre debug mode). I haven't seen any error msgs so far.

Tested with 1.200 portable on Test & Real libraries - no problems
Tested with 1.43 on Real libraries - no problems

But I don't do exhaustive tests - main thing I use it for to remove cover and non dc metadata.

So when are we getting the Modify ePub with the span cleanup to beta test under the current Qt4 and Qt5 (for those using that version of Calibre)? Without this version, going to the Qt5 Calibre won't do at all. I hate to say this, but the wrong version was used to make the current beta.

Are you saying the version from post #1 wasn't used? Because it was already explained to you by davidfor that he was going to port the official version and leave Rev. Bob to port over the other version.

Really? The 'official' version has 16,000+ downloads, the strip-spans trial version has 12. It doesn't look like the 'wrong' version to me.

@Rev Bob, I mean no offence by this nor do I mean to comment on how useful the span-stripping will be if/when it becomes part of the official version.

To answer the question, progress has been made (read: thanks to davidfor for porting and Unicode fixes), but I've also discovered a couple of subtle bugs. Now that I know about those, I can look into fixing them as well.

Be patient, though.

Rev Bob... Might I suggest releasing this with a different name, and letting the official maintainer merge the functions into the released code if and when they see fit.

Having multiple plugins sharing the same name with different features is a tad confusing
