update and anotate

1. Yesterday I have registered and updated, using the wifi of a friend of mine. It seemd like nothing happened, but after about 20 minutes a word 'false' had changed to 'true' (can't find it anymore, maybe because I am not connected). Can I assume the update succeeded? How can I check?

2. I tried to annotate in a pdf file, but it doesn't work. The annotate and highlight (and some other) icons are missing. The files are pdf's I made myself and pdf's I downloaded from the internet, so they are not e-books. Is it not possible to annotate that kind of pdf's?

1. Check Setting --> About eDGe

You must see "Build Number" = edge-eng 1.0 COYOTE ........ 20100615.154702.....

it is the latest firmware....

2. You can change PDF only you add it to library first. If you open it directly (even from library) it will be in view mode.

@Keng2000: I will add them to library and try again.
@Boris: yes,that's were I went wrong. But after rereading the manual I did it the rioght way a couple of hours ago and it worked.

It's difficult to remember everything I read in the manual. There will always be some trial and error. And this forum is great!!
