Sony DPT-RP1 unable to update firmware

Hi,

i'm using the RP1 since last year and a view weeks ago i got an email from Sony support regarding the new firmware update for the RP1.

Since a few weeks i tried to update but every time i try starting the update via Digital Paper App, i got the following error:

"Update cannot be confirmed.
Wait a while and try again.

Error code 12-1FF0-0197"

What can i do? The latest version of the Digital paper app is installed.
Maybe it's an issue where i live(Germany). Or a windows problem?

I should be pleased receiving any information which pushes me further.

Maybe the downloaded file contains an error? Can you try to download again, or reinstall the PC app, or use a different computer for the update?

I guess it could also be that the app is trying to check the update online, and there is a firewall problem... try on a different computer on a different network....

If you look in https://github.com/janten/dpt-rp1-py, you'll see that it does include an update firmware command. The call seems to be "update local_path". (see https://github.com/janten/dpt-rp1-py...ter/bin/dptrp1 and https://github.com/janten/dpt-rp1-py...trp1/dptrp1.py update_firmware).

You'd need to be quite courageous do use this. Maybe contact HappyZ and see how well this works...

I do not have one of these, yet recently manufacturers require the device itself do all steps (from downloading to installing), and this way a small installer is downloaded instead of the true content.

On the other hand, is it really necessary to do the update?

Well,

regarding that not all updates are nessesary(on any device)..

the additional functionality of usage within a beamer is the part which makes the update interesting.

I’m also in Europe and the update worked fine on my Mac. So it must be your Windows or your installation.

now finally i got a workaround.

I set up a new windows 10 pro on a pc from scratch without any other applications installed. I did an offline installation to suppress any updates coming from elsewhere. i finally made an image backup from the disk beeing able to test any situation.

so what i found out was:

1. after getting all windows updates and installing the digital paper app, i can't update the pad(error message as shown above)
2. restoring the previously made image without any updates and installing the digital paper app let me install the pad's image without any errors.

Now i try to find out what the difference is between the two installations.
Perhaps it can be done parallel via virtual machines.
