I've had De-DRM installed for ages, all of my Kindle books are DRM free, thats what I cant understand

When I import the book it comes up blank, no cover, and then when I go to open it I get the DRM message - weird

When I go to De-DRM and click on configuration for Adobe digital editions books it's asking for a key, where do I get this from? (bearing in mind I can not download digital editions as I'm on Linux)

Not to worry, I managed to find the key within Calibre - book works now

And after installing DeDRM and configuring Adobe's key, you will need to remove the book and re-import it. DeDRM is only active during import.

Should have read the previous message before responding. Once again, read to the end of the thread before responding!

I did read to the end of the post

The issue wasn't de-drm wasn't active, it was already active, the issue was generating a key for Adobe, but after some digging about I found the setting in Calibre for that

The problem was not you reading a post. It was that I responded before reading the last post in the thread where you had solved your problem by adding the Adobe key.

No problems Just glad I found a solution, next I'm going to see what exactly I bought from Amazon in the last year and if it's 70 - 90% e-books (which I think it is) my Amazon account will be closed, the not allowing downloads to a computer is the last straw.

It might just be me but I've felt that their 'recommendations' for e-books has become less and less relevant to me over the last few years, the search results have become filled with e-books of very poor quality i.e. I searched for Space operas as that used to come up with the type of long scifi books I like (say 600+ pages) now it comes up with pages of mini books 100 - 200 pages long that form a series or just really short books, the authors I do read are buried on page 18 or something. Its the same for other genres, and then when you do click on a book just to check the amount of pages/ synopsis but you realise it's not something you'd read Amazon takes that as interest so you get flooded with even more irrelevant suggestions, ad infinitum

Time to give alternatives a go (now I know how to)

Kindle Unlimited I think the short books made authors more for royalties.

Lightspeed magazine and Clarkesworld both offer direct purchases from their sites . with no drm epubs . Lightspeed is a mix of scifi and fantasy. They both list past issues if you want to see what they are like before buying.
