In case you missed SoundQuest Fest when it was broadcast live on Youtube you still have a few chances to catch up. Most (all?) of the performances are available on Youtube for viewing. Many (most?) have also been packaged for download and are also available on most streaming services. And many are available for download. One that I particularly liked has been packaged as an album by the Spotted Peccary label: Precipice of a Dream (Live from SoundQuest Fest 2021) by Howard Givens, Madhavi Devi, Craig Padilla is available at Bandcamp for "Name your own price" (FREE is an acceptable option). This is a 45 minute Ambient performance broken into 7 tracks. I really like it!

Amazon Music HD has added more than 5 million songs to its Ultra HD catalog since its 2019 launch, providing customers with the largest selection of music in Ultra HD. With Amazon Music HD, customers also have access to a rapidly-growing catalog of songs remixed in 3D Audio formats such as Dolby Atmos and Sony 360RA. Listeners can stream these 3D mixes when listening on Amazon’s groundbreaking high-fidelity smart speaker, Echo Studio. Music in 360RA can also be streamed via Amazon Music HD on Sony’s RA5000 and RA3000 speakers by using Alexa Cast.

Spotify Is Testing a New Super-Cheap Subscription Plan, but It Comes With Ads

In an effort to expanding its offerings and potentially give customers more flexible pricing, Spotify has begun testing out a new super-cheap subscription that starts at just $0.99 a month.

Positioned just above the basic free tier, Spotify Plus represents a significant cost saving over Spotify’s existing $10-a-month Premium plan and includes perks like no track or skip limits and the freedom to listen to specific songs at will instead of being limited to playlists. However, the downside is that in exchange for that super affordable pricing, you’ll have to listen to ads.

While Spotify Plus is not yet widely available, Spotify has begun testing its new subscription in the wild as spotted by a reader who sent screenshots of the new trial offers to the Verge. After the new Spotify Plus plan was discovered, Spotify later confirmed that the company was testing out new plays in a statement saying “We’re always working to enhance the Spotify experience and we routinely conduct tests to inform our decisions. We’re currently conducting a test of an ad-supported subscription plan with a limited number of our users.”

That seems like a really good idea for them, as it lets someone test out the full version at a much cheaper rate. I always thought the idea of Spotify was stupid, then I got two months & a free Google Home Mini for ~$5 and tried it out while I had it. I've remained subscribed ever since, because it turns out it works better for me than maintaining my own music library did.

They certainly got their money's worth out of that Home Mini.

I know you’re being facetious, but my understanding is that Amazon kicks you off student prime after four years, diploma or none (and grad school notwithstanding, too).
