ebook Research

Hi everyone,

I am a casual non-fiction reader. But an old school.. Never thought of ebooks till I started looking at Nook. I have since then researched on Kindle & a bit on Nook, Sony ereader, also reading forums on ipad. Personally an addict of functionality of Iphone.

If anyone can help to educate me on the Pros & Cons or suggest some other web links to read.

Also a great believer in sharing books & hence think of uploading the ebooks from forums like these. Could anyone suggest which ereader shall be the best bet for free uploads in various formats available? I mean which machine shall support ALL (or most formats) - I imagine ipad will be the worst bet for this. Nook I heard only has PDF version apart from its own format.

Thanks

Welcome to MobileRead, bhargavab.

the books listed here are available in all ebook formats. If you find one that isn't, you can easily convert it using Calibre. Here is our wiki page on dedicated ebook devices, and also click on the "famous ebook matrix link for side by side comparisons.

Hi & welcome to MR. I myself decided against the Kindle due to the limitations on downloads and capturing of audience (maybe I didn't do enough research). I am very happy with the Sony and have not had any problems on getting books from various sources. Calibre is a good tool to change the format of eBooks however the addition of DRMs might limit you a bit there (unless you start stripping that of).
