winnie the pooh

Best I can work out Winnie the Pooh is out of of copyright in Canada, while the illustrations are still in copyright. Is this correct? The reason I'm asking is I have the texts, and I'd be happy to upload it here.

A. A. Milne (writer) died in 1956, and E. H. Shepard (illustrator) died in 1976. So yes, the text is public domain in Canada since 2007, but the illustrations are still under copyright, until 2027 if the law doesn't change.

Disney holds rights to Winnie the Pooh. Disney uses the money to finance pensions for 'authors' lifetime achievements'. I know because an 82-year-old long-time author pal of mine in Wales gets a decent pension from them ... and that keeps him writing. It financied his latest historical fiction book, which comes out later this year. Best wishes. Neil
