Wouldn't it be nice if companies could connect your I.P. address (which they generally can detect) with your email address! That would save us so much trouble! (hahahahahahaha)

The problem with that is most people's IP addresses change every so often. How often depends on your ISP and where you live, but most people do not have a static IP address. You usually have to get business class Internet access service to get a static one.

Also if you use a VPN or a proxy, the IP address the website sees will be different than your real one.

Thanks for the info.

I was being very facetious. It would not be a good idea for a companies to know your email address on the basis of your I.P. address, especially if it is a static one, but even if it was a temporary one!

Every webpage that you visited automatically would have your email address. Then they could sell the information to third parties. I can't imagine all of the havoc that an unethical company could wreak having that information!
