Restart calibre and all books from last session open?
Normally I have 4-8 books open and reading at any one time and if calibre needs to be restarted for any reason each book needs to be closed and restarted manually. This becomes quite tedious.
Maybe I'm missing something but is there a way to have calibre restart with all the books opening from the previous session? If there isn't yet maybe the answer could be this: shutting down the calibre main window shuts down all the open books and saves the state. When calibre opens all the books reopen. Thank you! |

Which OS and version?
On Windows 10, if I close the library manager when I am viewing books the viewers remain open. I view EPUBs in the calibre viewer, PDF's in PDF XChange, DOCX in Word, CBZ's in Honeyview etc, many of which have recently used lists. BR |

Hi BetterRed, thank you.
I use W10 64bit and calibre 4.17[64bit] I should have been more clear. My calibre acts as you describe but if I have to restart the PC the manager and viewers all must close. Upon restart all books must individually be opened manually. I'd like all the books from the previous setting to open automatically. Much like a web browser can open with all previous tabs open. |

The programs I've marked are those with a GUI, the others are command line programs. I am not aware of anything that will force Windows to "Restart As Was", Windows Sleep is the nearest you'll get. BR |

Thank you. That explains a lot. Not being a programmer I'm not sure there is a way to achieve what I wanted but thought it should be possible. Thanks again.

I just realised there is a way that will get what you want. Instead of running the calibre library manager (calibre.exe) and the stand-alone viewer (ebook-viewer.exe), run the calibre server and access your books via your browser.
See ==>> The calibre Content server I don't use the browser based server interface so I didn't think of it before. Sorry about that BR |

Thank you! The content sever is really cool. I had always been intimidated by it so never tried. It was easy and might use it in the future. Best regards.
