Free (DRM-free) Learning Python by Fabrizio Romano [DIY Programming Reference Guide]

Learning Python by Fabrizio Romano is his comprehensive introductory self-teaching guide and reference to the Python programming language, suitable for beginners and upwards, free for a limited time courtesy of tech specialty publisher Packt Publishing.

I had a quick look through this and it seems very helpful indeed, with walkthroughs and tutorials suited for total novices, as well as explanations of certain points of Python meant to be of use to more advanced programmers coming in from a different language.

Currently free directly @ the publisher's special promotional page (DRM-free ePub/Mobi/PDF bundle available worldwide, requires account signup with billing address but no payment info), and you can see the detailed description of contents on its regular catalogue page here.

This appears to be a time-limited offer (though per Google, it seems to have been available for a while) on one of their regular titles (normally $40 USD in their catalogue if you don't access it via the special promo link), which I happened to spot via a fortuitous ad banner while browsing for some other stuff.

A few of their other special introductory long-term freebies for various web technologies are still available via this thread here. And for the past couple of years, Packt has been running a generous rotating offer for a daily free programming ebook from their catalogue, which you can keep track of by regularly visiting their special promo page, or the helpful posts which fellow MR member GtrsRGr8 has been making in the Non-Fiction megathread, and often offers significant discounts to members signed up for their mailing lists.

And this has been the (late!) selected 3rd (non-repeat) free ebook thread of the day.

Because it's really quite nice of Packt to not only continue to give us the daily freebies from their backcatalogue, but also offer a very useful-looking introductory guide to one of the major languages as well. I just wish I were considerably better at DIY programming learning so I'd actually have an excuse to take advantage of their sporadic umpty books for $5 each offers, which sadly, I have no real use for at this stage. one day, hopefully -->
