Kindle 4's battery draining overnight
Recently my Kindle 4 has, at night, started to go from fully charged to half charged. I've tried looking up possible reasons or solutions for the problem, but nothing has worked. I've tried seeing if the Kindle is indexing any books and it's not. I've tried a reset, and a factory reset and that hasn't worked either. I'm at a loss as to what could be causing the problem, and I have no idea how to go about fixing it. I would really appreciate any help.

Not that it should drain it that fast, but is wireless turned on?

No, I usually leave my wireless off. It was in standby mode too, so it shouldn't have been using much, if any, battery.

How long have you had it? If the factory reset hasn't made any difference, doesn't seem much else you can do but contact Amazon (make sure you explain that you've already tried a reset and restore to factory default) to see if you can either replace it under warranty or get a discount on a new one?

I just bought it recently, but I actually bought it on eBay so I don't know if the warranty would be applicable to me or not.
Edit: It was still draining very fast after the factory reset, but then I left it to charge for several hours, and it seems to be holding the charge well. In the time it would have taken for it to drain to half power it seems to have only drained, at most, maybe 10%. I'm almost afraid I'll jinx myself by saying this, but it seems that it might be working okay now. Last edited by sneakyspider; 10-30-2012 at 03:12 PM. |
