Kindle voice packs & usertts hack

Hi i'm new at this and i'm having problems taking my kindle 3g (serial number starts with B006).
I was hoping you could maybe help me out?
The instructions you posted seemed to be very straight forward but for some reason I'm not getting it ti work.
My goal it to get one french voice and one english voice.
this is what I've done so far:
1- installed - update_jailbreak_0.10.N_k3g_install then updated the kindle
2- installed - update_usertts_3r3_k3g_install then updated the kindle
3- I created a folders called usertts
4- inside usertts i created 2 files one called male the other female
5- I downloaded 2 voice packs : (kindle-voice-en_US-samantha) and (kindle-voice-fr-thomas)
6- put the content of these files in the respective folders
7- restarted the kindle



But nothing happens. The voices stay the same. Could someone please help me out and show me what I'm doing wrong

Hi pfont99,
I need more information.
Was the installation of jailbreak and/or usertts successful ?
Did the usertts/male/ and usertts/female/ folders disappear after restarting the Kindle ?
Was usertts/data/ folder created by the hack after the restart ?

For Both updates I had the message "unsuccessful" when updating. I thought it was normal because its not a standard update. Is there something I need to do so the updates are successful?
The folders did not disappear .
And no folders were created.

use update_jailbreak_0.10.N_k3g-3.2.1_install.bin if your Kindle has 3.2 or 3.3

you should see the "update successful" screen.

also, is there a way to use these voices in duokan lite? like by replacing the default dat files in G:\DK_System\Lite\res\tts

where is the update_usertts_3r3_k3w_install ? where is the download? sorry my english is not good. i don´t understand how to install the speech. Please could you write how to install the german voice. thank you !

“Error 3” up date unsuccessful

I tried to get a Spanish – English TTS voices as odizeuz suggest in post #40 of tread “Kindle 3 TTS got modded” (https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...dle+TTS+modded with (TTSMod_v4_SerenaUK_MonicaES.zip) and (TTSMod_0.4N.zip) in my Kindle K3W (v3.3) [B0008].

I got the “Error 3” update unsuccessful, then, I tried a simple approach just one voice (TTS...P-MonicaSP.zip) with same result.

I try to uninstall every thing MPlayer, usbnetwork, launchpad, … jailbreak. Finally as I use to do with Windows I made a clean boot “Reset to Factory Defaults” and reinstalled jailbreak-0.10.N, ss-0.25.N., lpad-pkg-001c, now I have again my custom screens, and launchpad respond to shift – shift – space.

But again “Error 3” up date unsuccessful, with TTS voices.

Drop "TTSMod" from "TTSMod_v4N_DiegoSP-MonicaSP" and a proper installer from "TTSMod_0.4N" into your root directory.
Then just execute update like you did installing jailbreak.

Just make sure you uninstalled any other TTS mods before installing this one.

Kindle 3 TTS got modded #40 odizeuz
Well, impatience can be productive some times. I've manage to put together an English-Spanish combination:

Yeap, that's right: a girl-on-girl thing Not an L World overexposure, just that these are the ones that give best results of those available. Male is English and female Spanish. I've test it on a Kindle k3g with 3.1, and it works like a charm.

I installed the italian voice and it's working fine, but I found loquendo voices to be much more realistic than this one. Is there any way I can convert loquendo one to kindle format? Or, more generally, which kind of software should I use to create a voice pack?

I am a Windows TTS user, every time I drive, I pick a book and translate to MP3 to listen on the road. I can do this because “Loquendo Carlos” voice is as good as Kindle Tom.
To me, the voices available from Nuance are poor, close as bad as Microsoft SAM, the best Spanish voice is Monica, however I hear as if the phonemes sometimes were mixed resulting in not clear voice, same filling with British Daniel and Serena; best Serena than Daniel.
Perhaps what I am hearing is the effect of been already acclimated to “Tom”, as happened in spread spectrum technology “speech over the noise”, that is; no mater the noise in a room filled with people speaking alien languages, you hear the people speaking your own languge…

Is there anybody in the space who was successfull in creating a german-english (Steffi-Tom)-TTS. I tried many of the hints in here, but the only thing I got, was a frozen Kindle.
BtW: Jailbreak ok.

Gibt es irgendjemanden im weiten Weltraum, der erfolgreich eine deutsch-englisch-TTS installieren konnte? Habe viele Versuche gestartet, doch höchstens einen eingefrorenen Kindle produziert. Jail break läuft.

Das läuft bei mir seit Monaten, beide Varianten auf verschiedenen K3, wobei der usertts deutlich einfacher ist.
