It's the same situation as someone considering the Nook as an alternative to the Xoom or iPad. I can halfway consider a <$200 expense right now, but really should hold off even on that, or I can wait until some point in the future where I may be able to justify the greater expense, depending on what comes up between now and then. The latest Coby is running the same CPU and Android version as the Nook, doesn't need rooting, appears to perform better with video, and is getting a lot less flak for quality control (though it's hard to draw inferences about real rates of failure based on internet moaning).

I'm also considering scraping the very bottom of the barrel with the $100 CVS jobber, which would allow me to get a 32GB microSD right off the bat, too, replacing my recently bricked iPod.
