Kindle DX's screen is so weak?

I got the Kindle DX as a gift from my relative, who is living in US. (I am living for now in Germany.)
For a while i had a happy time.
I put my pdf file in my DX. I read books everyday with this gadget.

But today morning i have suddenly realized my kindle's screen broken.
In the middle of screen there is several white lines, that was partly fulled with Amzon's cover-picture, but other part of screen was blacked out, therefore i could hardly see anything.

I made my DX several times into factory default, but it didn't work.

Honestly i carried my kindle very carefully, i covered it with normal file in the stationery. Of course I didn't drop my kindle. I couldn't even find any scratch on the surface of the screen.

I am very disappointed with this situation. Have you ever got the same problems?

Do you think, if Amazon charge on me additional repair-fee?
and is it possible, that i get the A/S with non-US address?

I had a contact with Amazon through my relative in US.
They said, that they will send me a new one, but only to US address.
So I asked my relative to receive it for me. I must return my old one to Amazon in 30 days.
But I am still afraid of it's vulnerability. Mabe I should buy this time a leader cover for it.

I had the same problem. but because it wasn't the cover that caused the problem, they won't cover the warranty. I've decided that the kindle isn't designed for travel. I'm going to go an Iphone. I just refused to buy another Kindle, or do any more business with Amazon.
