Any E-ink readers with white on black option?
Are there any electronic ink readers with an option to display white text on a black background?
Some people with limited vision find that more comfortable, but I have also been asked about it by people with normal vision, so I guess that there would be some demand for it. After watching the refresh during a page turn, some people insist that it must be an option, since that is what they see. |

no - and i've never quite understood why. I'll ask some folks and see what the reasoning is.

I'm willing to bet that someone could come up with a hack for it

I assume you could take a B&W PDF and just invert the colors.
Not sure if there's a reason people don't do that. Might be that since the contrast is relatively low on eInk already, white on black comes out fairly difficult to read vs the other way around. Remember, it's going to be more like gray on black. |

That's exactly what I was thinking. I'm not sure the contrast is good enough to have white on black. Some people still complain that e-ink pearl (which I haven't had a problem with) doesn't have enough contrast to read easily with black on white.

Personally, I can't read white on black. When I click on a webpage that's black, I normally click away almost instantly. There's something about it I can't handle.

Coolreader 3 allows white text on black background, so if you find an reader that supports cr3 you will be fine. Unfortunately it only supports drm free books. The kobo and kindle apps allow white on black.

Of all the reader programs and devices that I have used, I have never seen one that did not have that option under one name or another. Apparently, from other responses here, there must be some devices that can not do it it. Electronically, it is a very simple option to implement on a monochrome device since it is simply an invert of every image element.
