Lightbulb Free (nook/Kindle/Kobo) 50 Ideas That Shaped Business Today [Business History Trivia]

The Fifty Ideas That Shaped Business Today is the e-book edition of a special issue of the Financial Times magazine, free courtesy of publisher FT Publishing International, who in their FT Press incarnation used to give us plenty of rather nifty business/science freebies.

And thus, this is a rather nifty light overview of Exactly What It Says In The Title, with short essay-ettes explaining the significance and influence of their top picks, with little trivia tidbits about implementation history and so forth. Who knew that open-plan offices kind of got their start in post-war Europe as a result of the backlash against Nazi rigidity in hierarchy and order on the part of two Hamburg design-oriented businesses?

Free on a permanent basis @ B&N (also in the UK), Amazon (available to Canadians and in the UK), Kobo (available to Canadians).

And this has been the selected 3rd (non-repeat) free ebook thread of the day.

Because when panels of experts (or even interested and knowledgeable amateurs) get together to decide on their Top Umpty lists of stuff, it can be pretty interesting to see what their choices are and why.

Enjoy!

Description
What were the top 50 ideas, inventions and innovations that created the business world as we know it today?

The Financial Times set out to answer this question with the help of its readers, reporters and a panel of judges from business, academia and journalism. The resulting list, initially published as an FT magazine, encompassed technology, energy, aviation, finance, the law and, of course, people, including the power of women as leaders, employees and consumers.

This free ebook not only looks at the ideas that created business today; it attempts to predict those that will create the business world of tomorrow – from cars that talk to each other to the disappearance of cash.
