Can PRS-950 web browser view local HTML files?

I started the web browser, and tried entering URL's of "file:///" and "file://localhost/", but it would not accept either.

I have a LOT of HTML docs, and am not willing to spend time/effort/space to convert them to another format that the 950 is known to handle. I have a nice Archos 5 with web browser(s) that will follow the standard of rendering file://localhost/, but would like the larger screen of the 950 for reading these files.

Any suggestions?

TIA

If you don't have any luck with this this approach take a look at Calibre. It can do on-the-fly conversion of files as you download them to the Reader.

Bob

I have used Calibre, and find it a bit difficult to use (unexpected/counterintuitive - for me - actions), but it has been useful for books after I decrypt them. What does it do with internal links for sub-sections of a document, and hierarchies of documents (thinking of Linux Journal archives of 15 years of articles from a CD)?

TIA

That question is way past my knowledge, sorry! I'm sure somebody in the Calibre forum could help out, though:
