No, EDL still works... Recovery doesn't.

Although I've thoroughly read lputil docs and used it extensively to fix my super partition, could you explain how can I create a new (or modify existing) super partition using lputil using v3.5.4 update images? I think my super partition is corrupt in some way.

Also, what do you think if flashing the "_b" partitions would work?

You really don't have a B. Sure there are lots of _b partitions but the super really only has room for one slot of data.

So, just to recap. After you killed everything up to super on LUN 0 you were still able to get to recovery? And you did factory reset from there? And after you extracted the latest recovery image from the update, flashed that to recovery, also flashed misc-recovery it would no longer do recovery?

The recovery looks ok. If we run into problems we can fine tune it. But it needs to run first.

When you used EDL to flash recovery did you check which slot you were on? It might have flipped on you

Don't quote it, just check which is active.

You can double check your misc-recovery file.

When you reboot (hopefully to recovery) does it show the "Onyx" on the screen, then flash black-white? Do the LEDs near the power switch show anything strange?

So when you try any of this, pay attention to any USB connectivity. Run my UsbLog.exe while experimenting.

Exactly! (when misc partition is zeroed, otherwise it goes to recovery).

LED doesn't show anything strange, just blue when booting up, magenta when usb connected (no boot), and nothing when edl mode. Nothing strange happens after first try to boot.

Nothing strange there, just normal boot (system crash) or edl boot.

When I flash misc partition with text boot-recovery, I can access Android Recovery with the menu.

Does this have an SD card slot? Is there an "Update from SD card" in the list? Do you have PgUp/PgDn buttons on this?

If so, you can put update.zip (the decrypted .upx) on a SD card, boot to recovery, select update from SD card.

If you don't have buttons you can open/close the cover to go down a line. If not, you can plug/unplug the USB to go down a line. Power activates the choice.

No SD card, 1 button (acts as a vol down). And no SD card.
Update from SD card won't matter if the the device can't accept update.zip. See, I can use adb sideload to send update.zip file to device successfully but when it fails in the middle of install (error status 1) after 4-5 seconds. I think I need to change things inside the update.zip file like newer timestamp and new checksums, which I tried to do many times but adb sideload rejects my modified file.

Did you try flashing directly from the update:

• boot.img
• vbmeta.img
• vbmeta_system.img

And, of course:

edl /u /f /pmisc /c1 /z

.\edl.exe /u /w /pboot_a .\update\boot.img

then, multiple times.
