Black Friday always offers tons of deals on all kinds of products, allowing customers to get deep discounts on tech, home goods, clothing, toys, and more. It’s a great way to check items off your holiday shopping list without having to pay full price for everything.

When is Black Friday 2024?

Black Friday is always the Friday after Thanksgiving. This year, the event falls on November 29, 2024, so it’s only a few weeks away. Cyber Monday is the following Monday—December 2, 2024.

I ended up getting the Walmart+ membership when it was discounted last December and it's a good deal if you shop there regularly. The scan-and-go feature in the app ended up being my favorite feature. I can bag my groceries up as I shop and then checkout only takes seconds. (Unless they've mysteriously closed most of the registers, requiring you and everyone else to wait in line ten minutes. That happened recently.)

They've added a 25% discount at Burger King when making digital orders since last year. I don't live close enough to one (or like enough of their menu) to use that, but it could be a really good bonus. I rarely use the free deliveries (still need a $35 minimum), but when I needed them they really came in handy. Also, often something you order via shipping (free shipping with no minimum order) ends up being delivered from the local store, but treated like shipping so there's no minimum order. The gas discount is good as well, 10 cents off a gallon can really add up.

On the other hand, while I don't watch much TV I did try out the free Paramount+ membership and... they show way, way too many ads. I watched a couple of episodes of Star Trek: Lower Decks that are roughly 30 minutes each. There were pre-roll ads, four ad breaks during each episode and attempted post-roll ads that I skipped by exiting out and starting the next episode manually. I don't consider that a benefit and it amazes me anyone would pay for the ad-supported tier of Paramount+ when it's that bad. If your ad tolerance is higher maybe it'll be a good benefit for you, though. Also on that gas discount, I have yet to find a single Exxon or Mobile station in my area that participates. That means I always miss out when they do a promo doubling the gas discount, since the doubling doesn't happen at Murphy stations.

Still, at $49 a year it's a good deal and worth considering. Here's a full list of the benefits it provides.

Both Costco and Sam's Club will ship items. However, you will miss out on all of the items only available in the store.

You should be able to go to both sites and see what is available for shipping even without a membership.

Unless it has changed recently, I don't think BJ's ships.

Since BJ's, Costco, and Sam's all offer online shopping, you can join any of them and only shop online. But there's the matter of in-store pricing vs online pricing and shipping.

I have a Costco membership, so I'll speak to that. Online prices are generally higher than in-store prices and frequently involve shipping fees that can be quite high. Additionally, product selection varies between in-store and online shopping. I shop online only when they offer something I can't get in-store and that only happens maybe once or twice a year.

Browse through the products for each store and see which one offers you better selections and deals. Costco and Sam's both have memberships on sale (see posts 70, 43, 72).
