According to the blog, you can use the Nook to read any book for free in a B&N store.
http://bookclubs.barnesandnoble.com/...D46A2CA9C9B0D2 Unfortunately for me, the nearest B&N is 2 hours away. JSW, since B&N is saying you can buy books elsewhere for it, it would by necessity have to have other ways to get the books on. Have they said how the annotation feature works? I love my 505 for reading, but I've been thinking of getting a 600 when I'm ready to edit the novel I'm working on. I hate to print out all that paper, and I hate to read for long periods on a computer. I like the 'write on' feature of the 600. I'd consider a Nook if it doesn't involve typing on a tiny little keyboard. |

Here is an interesting article on B&N and connection to Adobe.

It will be a matter of time before eBook "borrowing" sites pop up everywhere.
I just registered: www.nookshare.net www.sharenook.com About to grab www.borrownook.com too! Who knows, you know? Last edited by coolbreeze; 10-26-2009 at 12:17 PM. |

I wonder if this means that Fictionwise will also be selling DRM ePub books in the near future?

eReader had earlier stated their intent to move to an epub based format, but using their own drm scheme. Everyone was concerned that it would be some sort of hack not supported by Adobe, but this doesn't seem to be an issue now with the Adobe announcement.
Fictionwise already seems to be pushing the ereader format more than their other formats so it would seem logical they will offer epub via that channel when it's available. I can't help but wonder how long it will be before fictionwise is completely folded into the B&N business. Seems like multiple stores just increases cost and decreases your marketing benefit. Move to a standard format and let other devices use it. You potentially win on the device and content side with that model. |

It won't do us any good if we have devices that use Adept DRM for ePub and B&N has a different DRM for ePub. So from what I see, the Nook is turning out to be a rather useless device. |
