I don’t know what I did but I sent two KFX books to my Colorsoft. One has the cover in the Library view and the other doesn’t.

I now have cover art for all 600 or so of my ebooks, all of which were converted to KFX with PDOC set; initially a bunch were not displaying or were displaying the wrong art, and all of those were due to having ASIN set. |

ive been reading eveyones replies am i dreaming in hoping calibre will code/patch or create a plugin that will stop the covers from breaking?
so far side loading them through amazon seems to keep the covers in tact but their image quality is not that great so far. i also see people converting to kfx but removing asin from my 400 books seems too tedious |

I will just live with some books not having covers. I hate PDOC. I have page numbers and that's more important to me. I know most won't agree. What I can't stand is the template editor isn't working for me. Have any of you tried it? Last edited by JBaby; 11-01-2024 at 07:37 PM. Reason: Adding additional info. |

Only way I have managed to get cover art to work is to make sure the format is EPUB and use Amazons send to Kindle.
Nothing else works for me book is all ok can see the cover when you go into the book but nothing shows in library view. |

I found this thread via googling. Just want to let you guys know that converting your books in Calibre to KTX with PDOC checked lets you see all the covers (as recommended earlier in the thread).
Doesn't seem like a big deal, everything seems to be working as designed. Does anyone know what I am losing by converting from regular KTX to KTC PDOC? I assume whispersync which is fine, and what else? |

What is PDOC? I can't find that setting in Calibre (Mac OS)

mostly whispersync, xray and such features, features that depend on amazon recognizing the book.

Anything else I need to do to get it to work? I'm editing metadata via Edit Metadata in Calibre, and then saving .epub to disk—also verified in ebook-edit app that no IDs where in content.opf. Unless there are other places where IDs need to be cleaned up? |

Yes, I am aware. I’ve always had page numbers in my KFX books. I have it set up to get the page numbers from Goodreads. I don’t have PDOC set because I don’t want my books being documents. If I wanted that I’d just use Send to Kindle. I don’t need to reconvert everything. I only convert as I need to. My library is mostly ePub. I don’t convert everything at once because I may not have a Kindle by the time I get to any a particular book. What I don’t have is series, title, and series number in the title like I do with my 11th Gen PW SE. For some reason the filename itself has the series, title, and series number but that’s not actually showing up on the Colorsoft. I see that it’s there with OpenMTP. |

Is there hope for the future?
Many of us, having used Kindles with Calibre for years, know and appreciate all you've done. One word from you indicating that you believe a solution to the color cover (for MOBI conversions) loading issue is possible will keep many from panicking and abandoning their Colorsofts prematurely. A lot of us have been here before with you and have faith...

For books that have a cover, where are the cover stored? Can't someone dive into the device on Windows and find where the covers are?
