For instance, in several folk dance traditions there is the grapevine step. I'm looking for four steps that are commonly used in English Folk Dancing. Last edited by pdurrant; 01-15-2014 at 05:58 AM. |

Simpler. It's the way one moves throughout the dance, or through a section of the dance, not something like "up a double and back" which is a specific set of movements.
Scottish Country Dancing has two main travelling steps - skip change in reel/jig time, and in strathspey time. There are more steps in English Country Dancing (although, oddly, not the skip-change of Scottish Country Dancing), I could think of four off the top of my head. |

1. Scottish Country Dances are usually one of three different kinds. Name the kinds.
HomeInMyShoes: Jig, Reel Shayne Parkinson: Strathspey 2. In American Contra Dancing, what is the usual dance formation? poohbear_nc: Two lines of dancers, facing each other. 3. Name as many different Ballroom (including Latin) dances as you can. (There are so many, only 1/2 point each for these.) HomeInMyShoes: salsa, waltz, foxtrot, jive, tango, paso doble, samba, quickstep, Vienese Waltz Shayne Parkinson: cha-cha Bookpossum: Rumba 4. Name four steps using in English Country Dancing. HomeInMyShoes: 6.5 points Shayne Parkinson: 1.5points poohbear_nc: 1 point Bookpossum: 0.5 points At least 4 points left to get. I don't think anyone can catch HomeInMyShoes now, so HIMS should post a new quiz question when he can. I'll post answers to any remaining unguessed questions later this evening. |
