I don't know if this has been mentioned, but really anything by Philip K Dick, his short stories are better than his novels in my opinion.

Shambleau! Love that story and it still reads remarkably well for it's age. I've got a best of C.L.Moore somewhere which is well worth a read.

Yes, that collection includes my favorite Moore story "The Bright Illusion".

Shambleau is one of Moore's stories about Northwest Smith. He's an interplanetary rogue, part Han Solo, part Indiana Jones. He is always stumbling over some extraterrestrial gothic horror somewhere.
The Northwest Smith stories are collected in Northwest of Earth.

You can read The Foghorn by Ray Bradbury at The Fantastic Films of Ray Harryhausen website:
http://members.fortunecity.com/ymir1/beastfro9.html

Also
Shoggoths in Bloom by Elizabeth Bear at http://www.elizabethbear.com/shoggoths.html

The Star by Arthur C. Clarke at http://faculty.winthrop.edu/kosterj/engl510/star.htm

Harrison Bergeron by Kurt Vonnegut at http://www.theamericanview.com/index.php?id=825

'Tis the Season (Christmas has been privatized and trademarked) by China Mieville at http://www.socialistreview.org.uk/ar...clenumber=9150

All Seated on the Ground (one of my favorites) by Connie Willis at http://www.asimovs.com/_issue_0805/allseated.shtml

A Woman's Best Friend ( a SF version of It's A Wonderful Life) by Robert Reed at http://clarkesworldmagazine.com/reed_12_08/

Somewhere along the way this turned into a list of SF Christmas stories. The Star, All Seated on the Ground, 'Tis the Season and A Woman's Best Friend are all good Christmas reads.
