Kindle firmware version 5.10.3
Firmware version 5.10.3 is now available for Kindle PW2 and later models.

The download page doesn't have any information on what has changed. The What's New screen on the device shows "Performance improvements and other general enhancements."

You turn off the WiFi to prevent the update?

I'm about to receive my first cellular enabled Kindle, I wonder if leaving it on cellular would avoid update downloads.

@Almamida: IIRC Kindle will never use 3G connection to download OTA updates, it will only download them while you're on WiFi.


p.s. I've only owned WiFi only models of Kindles, so wait for someone else to confirm my "recollection".

You're right. No OTA updates via 3G.

I prefer fresh bugs to stale ones. Updated 4 Kindles: onward and upward!

Still I wish they would add Immersion Reading and ‘real’ TTS on the BT Kindles.

Nor would one expect there to be. There's always a period of at least a couple of weeks between the release of new firmware and the start of it being pushed to devices (presumably to allow time for bugs to be found) after which it's gradually pushed over a period of months.
