DR800/1000 calibre plugin
These plugins are obsolete, for the latest versions of calibre, see message # 7 below !

Here are minimally modified device interface plugins of the DR's for calibre. The changes are absolutely trivial and so I hesitated to post this, but maybe somebody else finds it useful or is inspired to do a better job.

For the DR1000, the main change I wanted, namely that calibre allows one to directly export djvu files and "knows" they are on the device, has already been implemented in calibre some releases ago. The only additional change is that the books now get exported to the Books directory, there is no additional directory "ebooks" created.

For the DR800, I have added the djvu format. From the files, you will see that it is extremely easy to add other supported formats, such as fb2 etc.

If there is interest I can try to find out what all the formats supported by all the additional ports are and which of those are also recognized by calibre in order to do a more complete job ...

Another change, that news should go to the dedicated News directory, seems not (yet) to be possible, see a related discussion for the nook,

Instructions:

-download zipfiles and do not expand them
-go to preferences/plugins in calibre (latest version)
-browse to the zip files and and click add
-go to Device interface plugin, search for the Irex DR's, you will have 2 additional ones (John Schember + add)
-enable them (curiously you cannot disable the old ones, but it does not seem to matter)
-use "customize plugin" to select the additional formats that have appeared

Updated version (v2) supports ['epub', 'pdb', 'mobi', 'prc', 'html', 'pdf', 'djvu', 'txt', 'fb2', 'plucker', 'oeb', 'ztxt', 'tcr', 'chm', 'rtf', 'cbz']

If you browse the files in Calibre I think you can do anything to them that you can do to files in the Calibre library.

In the updated version of the plugins in the first message, I have tried to include all supported formats on the DR's that I am aware of: ['epub', 'pdb','mobi', 'prc', 'html', 'pdf', 'djvu', 'txt', 'fb2', 'plucker', 'oeb', 'ztxt', 'tcr', 'chm', 'rtf', 'cbz'].

For the DR1000, the best way I have found to interact with the current version of calibre is to disable the default DR1000 plugin and define the user defined plugin with the following:

USB vendor: 0x1e6b
USB product: 0x001
USB revision: 0x322

and then to use the following save template

{tags:'first_non_empty(
in_list($, ',', '^IREX$', '/Books/', ''), in_list($, ',', '^News$', '/News/', ''))'}{author_sort}-{title}

which ensures that the books with tag IREX go to the Books folder and news goes to the News folder,

Starting from version 0.8.28, they have kindly modified the DR drivers so that the default directory for books is the root directory. In order to transfer the books (tag IREX for instance) and the News (tag News) to the appropriate directories on the DR, please consider using a save template of the following form:
{tags:'first_non_empty(
in_list($, ',', '^IREX$', '/Books/', ''),
in_list($, ',', '^News$', '/News/', ''))'}{author_sort}-{title}
