X-link to the DRM-free thread for a new Humble Bundle:
Humble Book Bundle Treat Yourself presented by Callisto Media features assorted non-fiction cookbooks, health/DIY fitness, mindfulness/New Age, and sex advice. Also, you can still get the Humble Book Bundle Land a Tech Job for Dummies® presented by Wiley whose contents should be self-explanatory (although it does also contain a number of general job interviewing/career skills guides which may be useful for non-tech purposes). |

The Last Revolution: 1688 and the Creation of the Modern World by Patrick Dillon The last successful invasion of England; mobs burning Catholic chapels; one King driven from his palace by night while another rode in at the head of a foreign army – the events of winter 1688 were among the most dramatic in our history. The settlement which followed would place England decisively on the path to freedom, toleration, parliamentary democracy – and empire. Few moments have done so much to shape this country as the ‘Glorious Revolution’. Patrick Dillon was born in London. His first book of history for grown-ups, The Much-Lamented Death of Madam Geneva, was a history of the eighteenth-century gin craze. This was his next book, a history of the Glorious Revolution that combined political events with the revolution's social background and changes in economics and science. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01M01QM9T/ https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01M01QM9T/ https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B01M01QM9T/ |

X-link to the DRM-free thread for a new Humble Bundle:
Humble Book Bundle Hacking Reloaded presented by No Starch Press contains DIY books mostly on the subject of hacking (both how-to and how-to prevent security breaches), and mostly for dedicated computer programming/network stuff, but also a title for modifying your car at the $1 level, if you're interested. Last week's Humble Book Bundle Treat Yourself presented by Callisto Media with self-care cookbooks, fitness/sex advice manuals, and New Age-y wellness guides is still available. |

Not so, some freebies are worth less than they cost.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B075RTL3W5/ The text would have been more understandable if Google translate had been used. The ingredients make sense, nothing else does. Fry pan the onion and pilfer in the heat until liquid cheese seethe fry till translucent sum potatoes, garlic, wine salt and cheese seethe sum parsley and ham combine through complete compose 21 minutes the potatoes are cutter treat. == Also, the Look Inside sample stops short just before the above text. That does look awfully like machine translation. Clearly "sum" has been used in place of "add" .

Not necessarily. When I was in college in the 70s, one of my professors told of a mathematics book where the mathematics term "field" was mistranslated everywhere to the word meadow.

Ditto! Also love Diamond's Collapse, which goes on sale from time to time as well, and is equally thought provoking. I live near UCLA, where Diamond is a prof, and have had the chance to hear him give a lecture in person - very engaging, as you would expect.
