Cover for Oasis: Yes or no?
I got a new Oasis the other day and am debating whether or not to get a cover like this MoKo. I never had a case for my old Paperwhite, but for some (possibly irrational) reason the Oasis feels more delicate. But, I'm worried it will just add bulk and that the front cover will end up getting in the way more than anything.
In general do you recommend a cover for the Oasis? Why or why not? |

All my Kindles have lived in covers. My Oasis is in the Amazon cloth like cover that I bought on eBay. I love the texture of this one, but won't pay Amazon cover prices. I found the Oasis to be cold and too slick to hold without a cover, and the edges a little 'sharp" which bothered the area of my palm where the corner rested.
I've had several different covers, one was a MoKo that lasted just a few months before the corners started cracking. I don't remove the cover, so it wasn't that that caused the cracking, it was just cheap and brittle. They didn't stand behind their product, so I won't buy their stuff. Devices that are so thin are hard for me to hold...I need something to hold on to. |

I've always used a cover for my paperwhite, but prefer reading Oasis without one. I keep it in a protected tablet sleeve when not in use.

I was always in the "no cover" camp until I dropped mine and cracked the screen. I also like that now that opening the cover wakes up the Kindle so I never have to press the button. I think the Amazon cover is really nice and thin. The front bends all the way back out of the way pretty well when reading.

All ebook readers should live in covers, just as humans should live in some kind of shelter.

My Oasis is the first reader that I've used without a cover. I initially tried a regular cover but preferred it without. I have a skin on it and a Moko sleeve for it (https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B07CN3M955/) that it stays in when not in use. I only use my Oasis in bed, and I have a specific safe place for it to sit when it's being charged so it's pretty safe.
I do, however, still have the regular cover available if I ever decide to take it out of the house. |

None of my many Kobos survived through the years except the Aura One and the Aura 6" - all of them lived in covers most of the time. Depending on the sensitivity of the eInk screen a device won't always survive a fall, being in a cover or not.
My Oasis 2 is such an aesthetically pleasing device, I don't wanted to hide it in a cover. I bought a simple sleeve and am happy with my decision ever since. The device is nearly 3.5 years old now without any scratches on back or surface. |

And if Amazon is adding the book cover as a screensaver option, I'd like to see that cover. Using a sleep cover would prevent that. |

Open the sleep cover to wake it up. Remove the sleep cover to read, because I think it adds bulk and I prefer to read without one. Read. Put the sleep cover back on. Close the sleep cover. IMO, YMMV. |
