Calibre not seeing prs-500

Hello,

I previously updated my Calibre to 0.4.83 and initially got a message stating:

"USB Driver installation failed with a return code 2 and console output \n\nDevice node created. Install is complete when drivers are updated...Updating drivers for USBVID_054&PID029B from C:\Program Files\calibre\driver\prs500.inf
devcon.exe failed.
child process exited abnormally."

HOWEVER, calibre was able to see my prs-500 (I have both the 500 and 505). Yesterday, I did an update to Sony's eBook library software to version 2.2.00.18100 and I have NOT been able to see my prs-500 on calibre since. I have tried to re-install Calibre 0.4.83 and got the same error message above but cannot see my 500. I see my 505 fine.

Please help.

Thanks.

I have just acquired a 500 and installed the Sony Connect software. I've uploaded books etc. fine with the Connect software, but I installed Calibre to do some file converting, and it doesn't see the Reader. I've managed to move the files into Connect and then to the Reader, but that seems like a hassle.

Do I need to uninstall the Sony software?

For PRS-500, you cannot use both programs to transfer books. If you want to use Calibre, you need to uninstall Sony's drivers and reinstall Calbre with "install PRS-500 drivers" chebox enabled.
